According to a study conducted by the University of Ottawa in 2015, about 2.5 million new scientific papers are published each year. In the top 6 publishers in medical field, the least number of journals included in one publisher is 672 journals. With this inflation in the number of medical literatures, capturing the relevant articles to your research or answering a specific question in your clinical practice become more challenging every year. In this workshop, you will learn how to talk to the search engine using its language.

Workshop items:

  • At which stage of your study is literature searching needed?

  • What are the different databases and resources in medical literature?

  • How does the search engine speak?

    • Cochrane

  • Using advanced searching tools:

    • Using MeSH

    • Rules of phrase search
